Why compress a PDF to exactly 50 KB?
A 50 KB cap is common for single-page identity PDFs, scanned signatures, and some state recruitment attachments that sit next to even tighter JPEG photo rules (often 20–50 KB). If the portal says “PDF up to 50 KB”, a 180 KB phone scan will be rejected even when the page is blank except for a stamp.
Hitting 50 KB usually means aggressive image downsampling — around 72–100 DPI for a one-page scan — plus subsetting fonts and stripping metadata. Text-only PDFs (typed affidavits, computer-generated receipts) often land under 50 KB on the first Ghostscript /screen pass. Will Hindi text stay sharp at 50 KB?
