Convert PDF to Word when you need to edit, not just shrink
PDF to Word is a high-volume companion to compression. Candidates convert a notification PDF or a typed affidavit to DOCX so they can copy clauses, fix a spelling error, or reuse a format. Exam portals still usually want a PDF back — convert, edit, export to PDF, then reduce PDF size to the printed cap.
Layout-accurate conversion uses LibreOffice on the server when it is installed. If LibreOffice is missing, we extract selectable text into a simple .docx. Scanned, image-only PDFs have no text layer: use OCR in a scanner app first, or PDF to JPG if you only need pictures of pages.
Do not convert a photograph slot to Word. Photo fields want JPG. Do not upload a DOCX to a PDF-only validator.

Will PDF to Word keep the original layout?
Layout is preserved best when the server has LibreOffice installed. The text-only fallback keeps paragraphs but may not keep columns, headers, or pixel-perfect stamps.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to an editable Word file?
Only if the PDF already has a text layer (OCR). A camera photo saved as PDF has no text to extract. Run OCR first, or use PDF to JPG for image pages.
Should I upload a Word file to an SSC form?
No. Most Indian exam and govt job forms want PDF or JPG. Convert back to PDF after editing, then reduce PDF size to the field’s kilobyte cap.
Is PDF to Word the same as reduce PDF size?
No. PDF to Word changes format so you can edit. Reduce PDF size keeps a PDF and only lowers bytes. Use both in sequence if you edit then submit to a size-capped portal.
