About CompressPdfs Online
CompressPdfs Online is a free web utility for a specific job: make a PDF fit a published size cap. Generic compressors expose quality presets. Exam portals and government forms expose kilobyte numbers. Those are not the same control.
The site is built for candidates filling SSC, UPSC, NEET, railway, banking, and state PSC forms, and for anyone who needs to reduce PDF size, compress PDF online, or hit 50 KB–2 MB without installing software. Alongside compression we publish converters (PDF to Word, Word to PDF, PDF to Excel, JPG to PDF, HEIC to JPG), page tools (merge, split, rotate), sign & secure tools, and an image/JPG size reducer.
Who runs this site
CompressPdfs Online is an independent, self-funded project published at localhost. It is not a government service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of SSC, UPSC, NTA, MCC, RRB, IBPS, UIDAI, any bank, or any university. We do not collect application fees, book appointments, or submit forms for you — we only change the size or format of a file you already have.

How compression actually works
Uploads are checked as real PDFs (the file header, not just the extension). Where Ghostscript is installed — the configuration we run on Hostinger Cloud — it is the primary engine: it tries printer, then ebook, then screen quality, and then steps image resolution down until the file is at or under your target. qpdf, when present, linearizes the result.
Where Ghostscript is not available, a pure-PHP path recompresses the JPEG images embedded in the PDF. That works well on photo and scan PDFs and does little for text-only files. Either way, if your cap cannot be met without destroying legibility, we return the smallest readable file we produced and say so on screen instead of silently handing you an unusable page.
Two honest limits: we do not run OCR, so a photographed page never gains selectable text here; and unlocking a PDF requires the password you type — we do not crack, guess, or brute-force encryption on Aadhaar, bank statements, or anything else.
Privacy
Files sit outside the public web root, download links are HMAC-signed and time-limited, and a cleanup job deletes them after about one hour. We do not sell document contents or use them to train models. The site carries no advertising or analytics scripts today; it does load Google Fonts, and the HEIC converter loads its decoder from a CDN. All of that is spelled out in the privacy policy.

The service is published on localhost and www.compresspdfs.online. Anything else using this name is not us.
